Drop Fiber Cable is an out door rated fiber cable. It can be used in conduit or ariel applications under short span lengths (30m or less). Drop cable is ideally used in shorter distance connections (under 4km), primarily due to the construction of the cable. Drop fiber is constructed with very little outer jacket protection, though it is UV treated for outdoor use it has very little inner layer protection compared to HDD, ADSS or CST fiber cable types. Compaired to those cable types it is much lighter and has a fairly good tensile strength to allow for short span ariel applications. Its light weight construction and smaller diameter also makes it ideal for pulling through conduit. Its tough black outer jacket provides excellent protection against environmental wear, ensuring durability in outdoor settings.
For FTTH or FTTB this fiber optic cable would be used in the last point of connection from the distribution node to the house or business, (i.e. from the pole to the house, from the manhole to the house, along the walls, in conduit or trunking to the house).
For Enterprise, Security, or Industrial installations this fiber optic cable can be used effectivly running from point A to point B (i.e. from building to building, security base to perimeter cameras, network data cabinate to distribution switch points, etc.)
This Drop Fiber is constructed with Single Mode fiber (9/125 µm) and comes in core counts of 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 48 strands.
Single Mode fiber in this drop cable has the ability to operate at 1G/10G/40G/100G/400G speeds.
*Please note that cables are sourced from multiple manufacturers and as a result there might be slight variations in the construction of the cable. Though it will meet the same desired installation specifications cables supplied might vary compared to the specifications listed on the website. If the construction of the cable is important for you when purchasing your fiber cable, please contact us prior to purchase to confirm all the details meet the desired specifications.
*Also please be aware that we will provide lengths as they are availble from our inventory. If you purchase a length longer than our drum size can acomodate then you will be provided lengths that are availble in stock.
