These fiber splice protection sleeves are used for installations and repairs when splicing two fiber strands together with a splice machine. They are considered a consumable.
Once a splice has been done with a fusion splicer the fiber optic joint needs protection, the splice protection sleeve is slid over the joint after the splice. Then it is placed in a heating element on the fusion splicer that will allow the heatshrink material to bond to the fiber strands and protect the joint. A steel strength wire is also incorporated into the splice protection sleeve to ensure that you can not bend the join and cause a breakage . These sleeves are made of the best quality heat shrink material and steel strengthening wire.
The heat shrink material is a polyolefin heat-shrinkable tube.
Often the enclosure that will house the splice joint has specific holders to securely keep each joint in order and organised.
